We have an excellent opportunity for a Medical Technologist I to join our Clinical Pathology team dedicated to Early Development Animal Research studies in Greenfield, IN. Daytime hours and no weekends!

The Medical Technologist performs established procedures for non-clinical testing as required in all assigned laboratory disciplines and is responsible for analyzing specimens whose results are then reported to the pharmaceutical company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to, performing established procedures for non-clinical testing as required in all assigned laboratory disciplines. Responsible for analyzing animal specimens in conjunction with early development drug studies:

  • Perform parallel testing, reagent validation, linearity studies, and stability studies.

  • Document and resolve any specimen discrepancies. Notify laboratory management when specimen discrepancies are not resolved.

  • Evaluate and solve problems related to the collection and processing of specimens.

  • Ensure the validity of test results by performing established quality control procedures. Interpret quality control results according to established departmental guidelines.

  • Resolve routine and non-routine assay problems.

  • Prepare the workstation and instrumentation for the assigned testing.

  • Operate instruments to perform testing using established written procedures.

  • Receive, open, and place in service all reagents according to SOPs.

  • Prepare and properly label reagents and document according to SOPs.

  • Process and ship samples according to study-specific instructions.

  • Perform maintenance on instruments and equipment daily, weekly, and monthly, and document.

Education/Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and completion of at least a 12-month training program in Medical Technology OR Bachelor’s degree in a chemistry, biology, or related science field AND one year of training and/or experience working in a hospital or similar laboratory performing clinical laboratory testing.
Candidates with 1+ years of experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting are highly preferred.
