Purpose of the Role:
As part of your responsibilities, you’ll conduct microbiology and chemistry testing for raw, finished, and environmental samples. Pathogen detection, use of aseptic technique, data interpretation, and accurate result reporting are key to this position.
Key Responsibilities:

Test products and environmental samples using microbiological methods.

Prepare samples aseptically; interpret bacterial growth accurately.

Communicate test results electronically or by hard copy, ensuring precision.

Support lab accreditation via quality control and safety systems.

Handle equipment, bacterial cultures, inventory management, and lab housekeeping.

Train new team members and rotate tasks across the lab.

Participate in team meetings, contribute to process improvements, and support Simmons’ operating systems, such as LEAN and quality control.
Requirements:

Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, OR Food Science.

Knowledge of pathogen testing and quality indicator bacteria.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gmail.

Must pass a lab test and a color-blindness assessment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
You will work between laboratory and manufacturing environments with variable temperatures. PPE, including a lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves, is required. The role involves extended standing, repetitive tasks (e.g., pipetting), and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
