Job Title: Research Assistant I

Location: Rye, NY

Qualifications

Education:ย BS or higher in molecular cell biology, biochemistry, or related field.

Experience:ย Minimum 0โ€“2 years of advanced experience in a research or clinical lab handling primary samples, tissue culture, and using microscopes.

Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of basic and complex scientific laboratory techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including all Microsoft applications, Prism, biostatistical analyses, and programs specific to instruments as needed.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and judgment.
  • Ability to design experimental protocols and modify them based on outcomes.
  • Ability to perform highly complex research activities and advanced scientific techniques.
  • Ability to summarize experimental outcomes, write reports, and plan future experiments.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle various issues and situations.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and complete tissue culturing protocols with reproducibility and sterile technique.
  • Perform primary tissue processing and purification of blood cells.
  • Assist with the execution and image acquisition of immunofluorescent microscopy.
  • Isolation of mRNA and quantification using RT-qPCR techniques.
  • Perform animal husbandry tasks including genotyping, tagging, and injections.
  • Perform various ancillary experiments as needed for projects.
  • Maintain accurate records for individual experiments and the evolution of the project.
  • Maintain records for ordering and inventory of supplies.
  • Maintain documentation for Standard Operating Procedures as developed by the iPSC bank.

For applicants working in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $45,000.00. For applicants outside of this area, salary will reflect local market rates.
