Research Assistant- Role:
MD Anderson is seeking a Research Assistant I to support its laboratory operations and research projects. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience in cancer research, including cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and preclinical assays, while working closely with principal investigators. The Research Assistant I will assist with laboratory organization, experimental execution, and data management, contributing to high-impact cancer research projects and supporting publications and grants. Research Assistant- Key Responsibilities:
Technical Functions:
- Culture cancer cell lines and perform molecular biology experiments, including protein, DNA, and RNA isolation.
- Develop step-by-step experimental procedures under supervision.
- Compile research data for publications, grants, and protocols.
Laboratory Operations:
- Maintain lab operations including ordering supplies, shipments, inventory tracking, and organization.
- Conduct cell culture, drug assays, western blots, molecular cloning, and PCR.
- Perform light animal work, including tumor size and body weight measurements.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Assist in implementing new techniques and support lab colleagues.
- Communicate experimental results effectively to the principal investigator and team.
Data Maintenance:
- Maintain detailed lab records and data in notebooks or electronic databases.
- Prepare graphs, tables, and slides for presentations and reports.
- Ensure quality control and documentation compliance for all experiments.
Other Duties:

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a basic science field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology).
- No prior work experience required; hands-on lab training provided.
Preferred:

- Willingness to learn new techniques and collaborate in a team environment.

- Salary range: $39,500 – $59,500 per year.
