About the Department of Pathology

The Department of Pathology at Stanford School of Medicine is a leading department in the United States, focused on improving the diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of human disease through research, education, and clinical care.

About the Lab

The lab conducts research on gynecologic tumors/lesions and soft tissue/vascular lesions to understand the molecular underpinnings of human cancers, aiming to develop new diagnostic, prognostic, and/or predictive biomarkers for clinical practice in anatomic pathology.

About the Position

The Life Science Research Professional 1 will be involved in various defined research projects, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and managing lab tasks related to molecular profiling and biomarker analysis in human cancers.

Duties Include:

  • Plan and perform experiments
  • DNA and RNA extraction and sequencing
  • Review literature and offer suggestions
  • Maintain detailed records and contribute to publications
  • Help with general lab maintenance and training of staff/students

Desired Experience:

  • Previous experience in molecular biology
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment
  • Ability to work under deadlines and in a team

Education & Experiences (Required):

Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):

  • General understanding of scientific principles and ability to problem solve
  • Detailed record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn scientific applications

Physical Requirements:

Varied physical demands including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Correctible vision is required. May work in environments with hazardous materials.

Working Conditions:

May work with blood-borne pathogens and/or hazardous materials. Position may involve extended work hours and full on-site work.

Expected Pay Range: $31.40 – $38.89 per hour
