JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories, and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.
MARKETING STATEMENT:
A research scientist position at UTMB is available immediately to investigate host immunity and the pathogenesis of arboviruses and respiratory viruses. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in virology and/or immunology with excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior experience with animal model studies is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establish research objectives and methodology
- Manage computational laboratory operations
- Preparation and publication of manuscripts
- Ensure proper training of research staff
- Data and statistical analysis
- Ability to manage research projects with minimal supervision

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD, MD, or DVM in a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 years of prior Postdoctoral research experience.
