Overview
We are recruiting a talented Research Associate to join the NEOPATH research group at the University of Sheffield’s Faculty of Health. This exciting role involves cutting-edge research at the intersection of molecular biology, computational science, and translational oncology, with a focus on the pathology of head and neck cancers. Led by Professor Ali Khurram, this multidisciplinary project seeks to understand tumor microenvironments and disease progression through the application of advanced technologies and analyses.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research aligned with project objectives, integrating molecular and cell biology experiments with computational analyses.
- Analyze multimodal datasets including immunohistochemistry, multiplex imaging, and spatial transcriptomics to identify prognostic biomarkers.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, digital pathology tools, and data systems for experimental and computational workflows.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project milestones and contribute to planning and delivery.
- Prepare presentations for internal and external meetings and assist in manuscript preparation and funding applications.
Person Specification
We value diverse backgrounds and experiences. While experience in relevant areas is essential, we encourage all interested candidates to submit their applications. Key criteria include a Ph.D. in a relevant subject area, experience in molecular biology techniques, proficiency in bioinformatics or computational analysis, and excellent communication and teamworking skills.

Salary Range: £38,249 – £46,735 per annum
