Educational Requirements for the Research Technician Role:
- Bachelorโs degree or higher in biochemistry, structural biology, or a related field
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning) required
- Familiarity with tissue culture and protein biochemistry preferred
- Exposure to cryo-EM is an added advantage
- Commitment to at least 2 years of full-time research
Key Responsibilities of the Research Technician:
- Conduct molecular biology work including mutagenesis, cloning, and plasmid design
- Perform membrane protein biochemistry such as expression, purification, and characterization
- Execute functional assays including Caยฒโบ imaging, electrophysiology, and in vivo studies
- Carry out structural biology workflows including cryo-EM, model building, and simulations
- Operate high-throughput systems (plate readers, flow cytometry, sequencing)
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments
- Support lab operations, maintenance, and collaborative scientific efforts
- Contribute conceptually to project development
