Job Role: Operations Associate
Job Location: Filer, Idaho, United States
Opportunity Knocking! Be a part of something big. Bayer Crop Science in Filer, Idaho, is seeking team-oriented colleagues to help drive company success.
The Operations Associate is accountable for managing cutting-edge technology and processes in the Doble Haploid GH and lab processes that accelerate the production and advancement of hybrid wheat products through the R&D pipeline. This role is pivotal in driving long-term strategies and operations to ensure efficient laboratory and greenhouse production operations compliant with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership to lab and greenhouse staff
- Evaluate and improve processes and resource utilization
- Provide coaching and mentoring support
- Develop and execute regular operating plans
- Manage the site’s budget and operating plans
- Identify and manage relationships with equipment manufacturers
- Collaborate with other teams to improve efficiency
- Implement People & Performance Management practices
Required Qualifications:
- PhD with 3 years relevant experience, MS with minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or BS with minimum of 7 years relevant experience. Degree focused in Genetics, Plant Breeding, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or related field preferred.
- 3+ years demonstrated people leadership experience with full-time and contract/seasonal employees.
- 5+ years of experience in a laboratory or production operations
- Demonstrated ability to strategically balance competing interests to drive business results. Highly effective collaborator with demonstrated ability to effectively drive results across different functions and international sites.
- Proven ability to leverage data-driven decisions and create digital summarizations and insights. Demonstrated ability to influence leaders and front-line managers.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak operational seasons.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in plant breeding, laboratory operations and controlled environment crop production practices and history of leveraging that knowledge in a research environment is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in an agriculture R&D or production operations, plant breeding or genetics in a technical and/or regulated environment.
- Knowledge of production planning systems, strategic capacity planning, supply chain and/or logistics involving regulated materials.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while exhibiting situational judgment.
- History of leading continuous improvements and implementing new innovations through cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience leading people and projects in a collaborative team-based environment.
