At Stanford University School of Medicine, the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Clinical Research Specialist to conduct and manage clinical research for multi-site pediatric oncology studies. This position is part of the POETIC RDMC, a phase I clinical trial consortium focused on promoting early-stage therapeutic development for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and related disorders. The Clinical Research Specialist oversees critical aspects of large studies under the guidance of principal investigators and study supervisors.
Biology Jobs- Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary contact for research participants, sponsors, and regulatory agencies. Coordinate studies from startup to close-out.
- Determine participant eligibility, obtain consent, and assist with recruitment strategies.
- Collect and manage patient and lab data; maintain databases, flow sheets, and case report forms.
- Ensure protocol compliance and review/audit study documents for accuracy. Prepare regulatory submissions and monitor IRB renewals.
- Assemble study kits, schedule procedures, coordinate documents, and attend sponsor meetings.
- Monitor study budgets, resolve billing issues, and collaborate with finance/management staff.
- Communicate with principal investigators to ensure patient safety and adherence to study protocols.
- Participate in monitor visits and regulatory audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Clinical research Specialist Role- Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related medical field (biology, biochemistry, genetics).
- Experience with oncology clinical research studies.
- 1–2 years of clinical research experience preferred.
Education & Experience (Required):
- Two-year college degree with two years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Certification from SOCRA or ACRP is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, and perform fine hand movements.
- Occasionally sit, reach overhead, use computers, lift/carry/push/pull objects up to 40 lbs.
- Rarely kneel, crawl, climb, or lift objects over 40 lbs.

Compensation:
- Annual pay range for this role in the California Bay Area: $84,856 – $97,021, based on experience and qualifications.
