Overview
Our Research and Technology organization is currently seeking a Summer 2024 intern to join the Genomics and Data Sciences Team. The focus of the role is to design and execute next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based assays to meet research needs within Spark. This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with a Senior Genomics Scientist and gain exposure to real-world applications of genomics technologies in settings of gene therapy and drug development.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute NGS-based assays
- Conduct fit-for-purpose experiment design
- NGS library preparation and sequencing
- Preliminary NGS data QC/analysis
- Troubleshooting as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Current student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- Preliminary training in biomedical sciences and lab techniques
- Minimum availability of 10 weeks from June 3 to August 9th
- Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Self-motivated and proactive in learning
- Demonstration of an agile mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to lead
- Demonstrated interest in biotechnology and gene therapy industry
Spark Therapeutics takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience when determining salary. The base salary range for this position is currently from $53,700 to $80,500.
