Role Overview:
The Ontology Scientist at SCRI plays a crucial role in curating and maintaining oncology knowledge within our precision medicine software platform. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and relevance of information related to oncogenic variants, cancer drugs, and disease classifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curate and maintain a comprehensive oncology knowledgebase in Genospace.
- Review and analyze information from diverse sources for ontology curation.
- Classify germline and somatic variants according to industry guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy, relevance, and currency of the knowledgebase.
- Develop data curation protocols and quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address data-related issues.
- Optimize the usability and structure of the knowledgebase.
- Provide expert guidance and support to users.
- Stay updated on oncology research and clinical practice.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in cancer biology, pharmacology, or related field (Doctorate highly preferred).
- 3+ years of relevant experience in clinical research.
- Excellent knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, genomics, and biomedical research.
- Strong skills in data analysis, communication, and problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous learning.
