Job Description
The Associate Research Scientist I assists in executing experimental work, collecting data, and developing research under the guidance of experienced scientists. You will play a key role in supporting the Research and Development (R&D) pipeline by transforming research concepts into diagnostic assay products. This position is ideal for those with a background in molecular biology, clinical laboratory science, or biochemistry who are eager to contribute to groundbreaking cancer research.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct bench-level experiments within specific product or technology areas.
- Accurately record, analyze, and report experimental data.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation; report malfunctions promptly.
- Apply established research methodologies to ongoing projects.
- Maintain complete and compliant lab notebooks in accordance with ISO, QSR, and legal standards.
- Prepare technical documentation and experimental reports.
- Communicate results to supervisors and project teams.
- Collaborate effectively across departments to meet project deadlines.
- Perform duties in a BSL-2 environment, adhering to biosafety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Travel occasionally (up to 5%) between Exact Sciences sites.
Educational Qualification
Bachelorโs degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Biological Sciences.
Experience and Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as qPCR and DNA extraction.
- Understanding of protein biochemistry, particularly in the context of antibody-antigen interactions.
- Experience with immunoassay formats (ELISA, lateral flow, or bead-based assays).
- Hands-on experience with sample preparation and workflow optimization.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs.
- Demonstrated teamwork, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
