Educational Requirements:
- Preferred Qualification: Bachelorโs degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Immunology, or related field).
- Experience: Up to one year of laboratory experience or equivalent training.
Key Responsibilities of the Research Technician:
- Assist in bench research experiments following established protocols.
- Perform laboratory techniques such as tissue culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, protein purification, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments and data analysis.
- Conduct inventory management, order supplies, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Prepare stock solutions, reagents, and media as required.
- Support mouse colony oversight and, when necessary, test malaria proteins as vaccine candidates using mouse models.
- Assist with data interpretation, basic statistical analysis, and report preparation.
Skills Required for the Research Technician Role:
- Proficiency in molecular biology and immunology techniques.
- Strong understanding of PCR, tissue culture, and gene editing methods.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and adaptability in a laboratory setting.
- Prior experience with malaria research or mouse model handling is an advantage.
