Clinical Research Job Role Overview

The Clinical Research Coordinator I conducts and manages clinical trials in compliance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH Guidelines, and Velocity’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role ensures patient safety, high-quality data capture, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage assigned clinical trials in accordance with study protocol, GCP, ICH guidelines, and SOPs
  • Coordinate trial activities including start-up, vendor management, subject recruitment, protocol training, collection of regulatory documents, and scheduling subject visits
  • Monitor data entry and query resolution in sponsor/CRO data capture systems
  • Manage, document, and report adverse events (AEs), serious adverse events (SAEs), and protocol deviations
  • Implement protocol amendments and provide close-out reports
  • Communicate professionally with coworkers, leadership, study subjects, sponsors, CROs, and vendors
  • Apply good documentation practices and maintain confidentiality of patient and sponsor information
  • Evaluate potential study subjects through phone and in-person pre-screening
  • Execute recruitment strategies defined by the Clinical Research Team
  • Understand key timelines, endpoints, vendors, and patient populations for assigned protocols
  • Perform clinical procedures (e.g., drug preparation and administration, fibroscan, phlebotomy, ECG, lab processing) within scope
  • Promote cultural awareness and respect in all interactions

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant life science experience OR
  • Associate’s degree with 2 years of relevant life science experience OR
  • High School diploma/technical degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant life science experience

Licenses / Certifications (if applicable by state law):

  • Phlebotomy
  • Intramuscular dose administration and preparation
