Food Scientist Job Overview
The Associate Food Scientist supports the development, optimization, and innovation of pizza products through Palermo’s consumer-driven R&D process. This role requires a confident, energetic professional with a strong foundation in food science and product development.
What You’ll Do
- Execute product development and improvement projects, including formulation of finished pizza products and sub-assemblies
- Prepare small-scale product samples for testing and evaluation
- Document study results according to company procedures and maintain accurate records
- Apply food science best practices to test materials, develop improved formulas, and create new formulations
- Prepare laboratory documentation and data sheets
- Assist with PR events, food shows, and product or production presentations
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field
- Knowledge of food technology, product design, food manufacturing, and food safety
- Experience in food manufacturing, major food companies, or the restaurant industry is a plus
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, especially in time-sensitive environments
