Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, or related scientific field
- Previous laboratory experience is a plus
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and specimen handling
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Understanding of SOPs, QA, and QC standards
Key Responsibilities for Clinical Lab Technician Role:
- Assist licensed CLS personnel in performing clinical test protocols per state regulations
- Identify and escalate any issues affecting the quality of test results
- Prepare, prioritize, and maintain all clinical samples for testing
- Maintain specimen inventory and organization in the freezer
- Label tubes and plates according to established protocols
- Coordinate documentation and monitor consumable inventory
- Perform general laboratory and equipment cleanup
- Prepare logs or documents for routine testing or special assignments
- Adhere to quality control guidelines to maintain specimen integrity
- Dispense pre-made reagents under licensed supervision
- Ensure a safe work environment by using proper PPE
Skills Required for Clinical Lab Technician Role:
- Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Collaborative and flexible approach in a laboratory environment
- Ability to work flexible hours during training
- Must pass standardized color vision screen
- Preferred: experience with molecular biology techniques, high-volume clinical labs, and liquid-handlers
