  • Job Title: Clinical Scientist, Early Development
  • Location: Brisbane, CA – US

Role Overview

The Clinical Scientist in Early Development provides scientific expertise for designing and delivering clinical studies and programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and execution of assigned clinical trial activities, collaborating with clinical team members.
  • Serve as Clinical Trial Lead for one or more trials.
  • Lead or support trial-level activities with supervision.
  • Co-lead study team meetings alongside GDO protocol managers and cross-functional team members.
  • Collaborate with external partners (e.g., KOLs).
  • Implement best practices with guidance.
  • Provide regular updates to management.
  • Develop Protocol and ICF documents, present to governance committees and development teams.
  • Conduct literature reviews.
  • Submit clinical documents to TMF.
  • Develop and deliver site/CRA training materials at SIVs and investigator meetings.
  • Review clinical narratives and monitor data trends.
  • Develop Data Review Plans with Data Management.
  • Ensure CRF design aligns with protocol and data collection needs.
  • Contribute clinical input to CSRs and regulatory documents (e.g., IB, DSUR, PSUR, orphan reports, HA/EC/IRB responses).

Required Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Life Sciences (PhD, MS, or other scientific field preferred).
  • Suitable for new entrants to pharma (post-fellowship or industry newcomers).

Required Knowledge & Skills for Life Science Career

  • Basic understanding of GCP/ICH, drug development, study design, statistics, and clinical operations.
  • Ability to interpret protocols and program-specific data.
  • Intermediate medical writing and terminology skills.
  • Basic planning/project management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of disease area, compound, and clinical landscape.
  • Awareness of committees like DMCs, dose review teams, and adjudication committees.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and data review tools.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.

Compensation

  • Brisbane, CA & Cambridge, MA: $173,390 – $210,110
  • New Jersey: $150,770 – $182,701
  • San Diego, CA & Seattle, WA: $165,850 – $200,974

Compensation Note: Ranges are for full-time employees (FTE). Incentive cash and stock may be available. Final compensation is based on experience.
