Educational Requirements in the QC Technician Role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Processing, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related Science field
- OR Science diploma with two (2) years in a food safety and quality role
- Previous laboratory or quality experience preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor plant personnel practices and equipment for adherence to GMPs in the Quality Control Jobs at Saputo
- Monitor product quality and food safety testing (oxygen testing, leaker testing, sanitizer concentration, CCP monitoring)
- Collect and analyze product samples throughout the plant
- In the Quality Control Jobs, you should conduct chemical, microbiological, and organoleptic analysis on raw materials and finished goods
- Perform raw material and product sampling and grading
- Enter data and summarize testing results
- Initiate, maintain, and resolve QC holds
- As a QC Technician, you should lead team efforts to resolve food safety and quality risks
- Complete QC shift reports summarizing deviations
- Communicate results and provide troubleshooting suggestions
- Investigate customer and consumer complaints
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Ensure compliance with OH&S, WCB, and company regulations as a QC Technician
- Support Quality Control, Sanitation, Food Safety, and Food Quality operations
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory properties of food products
- Understanding of aseptic sampling and microbiological testing
- Ability to interpret microbiological results using analytical methods
- Strong focus on food safety, GMP, and OH&S compliance
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
