Research Job Overview
The Food Product Development Associate Scientist is responsible for leading the design, development, and commercialization of innovative food and beverage products. This role manages the full product lifecycle—from concept and prototype development through scale-up and national launch—while ensuring all products meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, data-driven decision-making, and effective collaboration with cross-functional partners across R&D, Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop food and beverage products using food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and experimental design
- Lead accelerated product development cycles, including ideation, prototyping, optimization, scale-up, and national launch
- Follow stage-gate innovation processes to ensure robust product design and cross-functional alignment
- Design and execute experiments; analyze and interpret data to make sound technical recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Packaging, Life Sciences, Regulatory, and Sensory & Consumer Insights teams
- Ensure scaled-up formulations meet specifications at manufacturing plants
- Partner with Engineering and Supply Chain to evaluate, test, and scale new equipment as needed
Qualifications For Research Jobs
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Food Science & Technology or a related scientific field
- Product development experience in the food or beverage industry
- Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality, formulation, and processing technologies
- Innovative, creative mindset with a positive, results-driven approach
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness and ability to work in laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing environments
