Educational Requirements for the Lab Technician Role:

Bachelor’s degree or 2-year degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field

Key Responsibilities of the Lab Technician:
- Conduct in-plant analysis and audits of production and quality records
- Collect and analyze samples for post-process measurements, packaging checks, and product evaluations
- Manage sample libraries, incubation programs, and product deviation samples
- Collect samples for external laboratory testing and customer positive release programs
- Perform post-process examinations and report deviations to the Quality Manager
- Review Finished Goods and Raw Material Analysis for compliance
- Collaborate with R&D to ensure product specifications remain accurate and current
- Input and manage quality data, lab results, and panel evaluations in internal systems
- Perform daily test calibrations and ensure data accuracy
- Generate reports and communicate quality findings to cross-functional teams
- Participate in team meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support Simmons Operating Systems, including quality, GMP, HACCP, LEAN, and security programs
- Follow PPE, safety, and facility-specific quality requirements
Skills Required for the Lab Technician Role:
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance / Quality Control principles
- Understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and laboratory procedures
- Strong data entry, documentation, and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Gmail
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail with strong integrity and accountability
- Thermal processing and double seam knowledge (required for pet food facilities)
