Clinical Research Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator(s) and Clinical Research Coordinator, the Clinical Research Assistant will assist in the acquisition and analysis of patient information for multiple clinical research projects. Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing patients to gather information
- Preparing and maintaining study records
- Entering data via computer
- Performing statistical analyses of resultant data
- Participating in qualitative and quantitative analyses of research data
- Reviewing relevant literature and assisting in research protocol development
- Performing EKGs, taking vital signs, and processing blood/tissue samples as required

Responsibilities of Clinical Research Jobs:
- Assist Principal Investigators in coordinating clinical research activities.
- Identify and follow up with patients meeting study criteria; ensure protocol eligibility.
- Maintain study records for each participant.
- Interview patients and families, facilitate informed consent, and collect study information.
- Schedule appointments and complete necessary documentation.
- Review medical records and request missing data (e.g., lab results).
- Monitor adherence to protocols; alert physicians to deviations.
- Perform research-based EKGs, vital signs, blood processing, and sample shipment.
- Collect, organize, and enter patient data into databases.
- Perform statistical analyses using pre-packaged software (e.g., linear regression, cross-tabulations).
- Maintain computer equipment and prepare data visualizations (graphs, charts).
- Participate in developing research protocols and coordinating the activities of other team members.
- Review literature related to research projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Applied or Life Sciences or related area, including coursework in research methodologies and microcomputer systems.
Experience:
3–6 months of on-the-job experience to become familiar with specific research studies.
