Educational Requirements for the Product Scientist Role:
- B.Sc. degree or College Diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related scientific discipline
- Equivalent experience will also be considered
Key Responsibilities:
- In the Food Science Jobs at Maple Leaf, you should lead product development from concept through bench-top prototype and full-scale manufacturing
- Assess and resolve technical challenges related to product quality and performance
- Develop draft product costs and Bills of Materials
- Participate in cross-functional project teams
- Review and document raw ingredients, formulations, and final product specifications in the Product Scientist Role.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for assigned products
- Ensure regulatory compliance by collaborating with Regulatory Affairs
- Provide technical guidance to Purchasing, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams
- Conduct internal and external sensory trials
- Independently plan and manage multiple projects using scientific methodologies
- Perform competitive product reviews to identify innovation and improvement opportunities
- Identify technology improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Maintain project documentation and ensure confidentiality in this Product Scientist Role.
- Prepare and present technical reports with scientific and business clarity
Skills Required for the Product Scientist Role:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Product Development, Operations, or Quality Control
- Strong understanding of food science and product development processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on approach with flexibility for varying schedules due to plant trials
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
