About the Food Science Jobs
Ferrero Canada is currently seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join its Chemistry Laboratory team. The successful candidate will perform chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure food safety, quality, and compliance before products enter the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Analysis & Quality Control
- Conduct chemical analysis of raw ingredients, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure quality, food safety, and nutritional value
- Analyze products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and compliance with government and industry standards
- Perform organoleptic (taste) testing of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products as required
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all analyses comply with Safety policies, GMP/GLP, SOPs, and Ferrero Group standards
- Verify and report chemistry results using Excel and/or SAP
- Participate in internal and external audits as required
- Perform annual proficiency testing (Ring Tests) on all qualified analyses
Equipment & Technical Support
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment (e.g., NIR, GC, HPLC)
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and sample formulations
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Technology teams to resolve production-related issues
- Act as a subject matter expert and support training activities (e.g., sampling, swabbing)
Additional Duties
- Conduct environmental swabbing in production areas as required
- Support analytical investigations and special projects, including validation, data processing, and reporting
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor to support production operations
About You (Qualifications & Experience)
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Food Science, or a related technical field
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience in food processing or a similar industry
- Strong knowledge of chemical composition, reactions, and analytical processes
- Familiarity with GMP/GLP, HACCP, and food safety standards
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as NIR, GC, and HPLC
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP
- Availability to work 12-hour continental afternoon shifts

- Base salary range: $63,500 – $84,900 annually
