Educational Requirements for the Computational Biologist Role:

  • Master’s or PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant industry experience may be considered
  • PhD preferred

Key Responsibilities of the Computational Biologist:

  • Support data analysis workflows and tools for Bruker’s spatial biology platforms
  • Assist customers with data quality issues across transcriptomics and proteomics workflows
  • Implement and maintain analytical pipelines for spatial ‘omics datasets
  • Provide training and troubleshooting support for internal teams and external users
  • Interpret analytical results and link findings to biological questions and study objectives
  • Communicate scientific insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with research scientists, software developers, and customer-facing teams
  • Stay updated on emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies in spatial omics analysis

Skills Required for the Computational Biologist Role:

  • Strong experience analyzing high-dimensional ‘omics datasets
  • Proficiency in R for bioinformatics and statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages (preferred)
  • Knowledge of transcriptomics, proteomics, and spatial omics technologies
  • Understanding of relevant biological domains such as oncology or immunology
  • Excellent communication and data interpretation skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Customer-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
