Educational Requirements for the Biological Science Internship:

  • Currently pursuing a BS in Biological, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • 0–2 years of hands-on laboratory experience
  • Strong understanding of cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry
  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as Aseptic technique, Mammalian cell culture, Transfection, electroporation, Ultrafiltration/diafiltration, Chromatography, Cryopreservation
  • Knowledge of analytical tools like PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, and HPLC
  • Experience with statistical experimental design and software such as JMP, Minitab, or R

Key Responsibilities of the Intern:

  • At BMS Careers, you have to design and execute experiments to formulate LNPs using microfluidic systems
  • Optimize downstream processes such as buffer exchange, neutralization, and clarification
  • Characterize LNP CQAs including size, PDI, encapsulation efficiency, potency
  • Conduct ex-vivo cell culture and perform cell-based assays to evaluate T-cell transfection efficiency
  • Use Design-of-Experiments (DoE) approaches to improve LNP stability and recovery
  • Investigate freezing and thawing strategies to preserve LNP integrity
  • Analyze and present scientific data with actionable insights
  • Maintain documented records using an electronic lab notebook
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and laboratory regulations

Skills Required for the Biological Science Internship:

  • Strong scientific and analytical thinking
  • Hands-on lab skills in biological and biochemical techniques
