Department Summary
The Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (BCP) team develops quantitative biochemical and cellular assays to support Genentech’s biological and small-molecule drug discovery programs. As part of multi-disciplinary project teams, BCP characterizes therapeutic leads and supports in vitro biological strategies for advancing antibody and small-molecule candidates.
The Opportunity
- Implement complex 3D in vitro models and run functional assays using primary human cells.
- Gain hands-on experience with microfluidics and modern automation tools for high-throughput screening.
- Perform biochemical and cellular assays, including gene expression analysis and cytokine/chemokine profiling.
- Present weekly data updates to project teams.

Required Qualifications
- Education
- You must meet one of the following:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, or
- Have completed a Bachelor’s degree (not enrolled in graduate school).
- Majors:Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Skills:
- Prior wet lab experience required.
- Strong aseptic technique and cell culture skills.
- Experience with primary cell isolation/culture preferred.

Compensation for Biology Internship
