Position Summary

The QA Analyst will be based at the Babelegi Factory and will be responsible for maintaining product quality by ensuring that all products produced at the factory level comply with quality requirements. The role includes coordinating sensory sessions and managing the release, rework, and final product processes in a timely manner to meet on-time release targets. The position also requires maintaining records of ICPs and ensuring that Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) are consistently followed.
A Day in the Life of a QA Analyst
Sensory
- Ensure sensory best practices are followed during sensory sessions.
- Ensure the correct reference samples are available for all products.
- Coordinate sensory sessions and daily release of finished products (FP) and update the attendance register daily.
- Conduct ICPs for the main laboratory daily.
- Conduct weekly spiking of the FP panel and update the spiking performance tracking spreadsheet.
- Maintain the selection of standard approval samples across all products.
- Verify that condensate samples are analyzed per shift and communicate any out-of-norm results to industrial services.
- Verify that inline sensory is conducted daily while ensuring sensory best practices are followed.
- Assist in product quality investigations.
- Support the achievement of factory objectives through line verification in filling and packaging.
Microbiology
- Prepare samples, conduct analysis, and report results within the stated turnaround time according to strict work planning and GLP.
- Perform pathogen monitoring by taking swabs in the factory and conducting analysis according to the sampling plan.
- Ensure the pathogen monitoring plan is up to date and complies with relevant standards.
- Prepare required media and perform the necessary analyses on samples, reporting results within the allocated timeframe.
- Communicate and participate in investigations for out-of-norm results.
- Verify compliance with the pathogen monitoring plan and share identified gaps with FSS.
- Conduct weekly hygiene inspections in the plant and perform plant release when required.
- Participate in proficiency testing, including “P” tests with mixed microbes (e.g., “L”, “S”).
- Maintain and calibrate equipment by arranging repairs for faulty equipment and maintaining records of repairs, calibrations, and analytical method control.
Product Re-evaluation
- Set up finished product samples for re-evaluation.
- Conduct second examination sampling in the warehouse when required.
- Assist in rework release.
General
- Compile sensory trial reports.
- Prepare and evaluate industrial batch samples.
- Prepare retention samples for consumer complaint evaluations.
- Label retention samples and store them on shelves in sequence.
- Evaluate KQ samples at defined intervals.
Sensory Best Practice / ICP
- Ensure sensory best practices are maintained in the main laboratories.
- Conduct daily calibration checks for scales.
- Verify coding in finished products.
- Implement new methods when Laboratory Instructions (LI’s) are updated.
- Ensure sensory equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and operational.
What Will Make a Candidate Successful?
Education
Degree or Diploma in Food Technology or Biotechnology.
Experience
1–2 years of experience in Sensory, Microbiology, or a related field.
Technical Skills
- Sensory analysis.
