Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent meeting CLIA & State requirements
- Minimum 1-year clinical laboratory testing experience OR MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
Key Responsibilities for Clinical Laboratory Technologist Role:
- Evaluate specimen acceptability for testing per established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical lab procedures according to SOPs
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results for quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Replenish bench supplies and assist with specimen processing
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
Skills Required for Clinical Laboratory Technologist Role:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed
