Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • Non-traditional Bachelor’s degree accepted if it meets CLIA and state regulatory requirements
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred but not mandatory
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience is not required

Key Responsibilities for Clinical Laboratory Technologist Role:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for clinical lab testing
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures as per SOPs
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
  • Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving
  • Prepare and evaluate reagents and quality control materials
  • Report accurate and timely test results
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control documentation
  • Assist with specimen processing when required
  • Maintain a safe clinical lab environment

Skills Required for Clinical Laboratory Technologist Role:

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass standardized color vision screening
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as needed
