Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- Non-traditional Bachelor’s degree accepted if it meets CLIA and state regulatory requirements
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred but not mandatory
- Previous clinical laboratory experience is not required
Key Responsibilities for Clinical Laboratory Technologist Role:
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for clinical lab testing
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures as per SOPs
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
- Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving
- Prepare and evaluate reagents and quality control materials
- Report accurate and timely test results
- Perform preventive maintenance and quality control documentation
- Assist with specimen processing when required
- Maintain a safe clinical lab environment
Skills Required for Clinical Laboratory Technologist Role:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to pass standardized color vision screening
