Research Assistant Position Overview

The Research Assistant I (Research Technician I) will support ongoing research projects by assisting in the maintenance and generation of genetically modified mouse models. This entry-level position is designed for recent graduates in biological sciences. While prior laboratory or animal experience is helpful, it is not required. Comprehensive hands-on training will be provided for specialized procedures.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with mice, motivated to learn, and dedicated to contributing actively within a laboratory team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain genetically modified mouse colonies and assist with related procedures
  • Support the generation of genetically modified mice (training provided)
  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction and PCR
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and communicate regularly with the supervisor
  • Follow established protocols and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Participate actively in laboratory meetings, training sessions, and collaborative projects
  • Comply with all institutional animal care and biosafety regulations

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field

Experience & Skills

  • Comfortable working with mice and performing laboratory procedures
  • Responsible, dependable, and motivated to engage in research
