Food Science Job Details:

Role Overview
This technical role is based within the Harper Adams Food Academy, working as part of a team of academic and technical staff to support practical teaching, research, and consultancy activities across Food Science, Food Technology, and Nutrition.
The postholder will also support the production of food products aligned with Harper Food Innovation priorities, including:
- Dairy products
- Bakery products
- Meat products
- Alcoholic beverages
The Food Academy facilities include:
- Product development kitchen
- Instrumentation laboratory
- Pilot-scale dairy and beverage processing facilities
- Sensory evaluation suite
Key Responsibilities of Food Science Jobs
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Maintain the Food Academy in relation to:
- Equipment hygiene
- Food safety
- Health and safety compliance
- Demonstrate techniques in laboratory practical classes
- Operate laboratory and processing instrumentation when required
- Provide facility induction, training, and technical support to:
- Students
- Staff
- External users
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and salary grade
Experience & Qualifications
Applicants should meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Degree-level qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline
- OR
- Registered Scientist (RSci) status or equivalent professional registration demonstrating relevant Food Technology skills
- OR
- Significant practical experience using specialist food processing equipment in:
- Commercial food technology environments
- Educational or research settings
