Forensic Science Internship Overview

The Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division is offering multiple unpaid forensic science internships across five statewide laboratories. Interns work in-office and receive hands-on experience in technical and scientific forensic functions under the supervision of a mentor.

Duties

  • Assist with technical and scientific tasks related to assigned forensic internship projects.
  • Projects may involve:
    • Biology/Serology
    • DNA
    • Drug Chemistry
    • Crime Scene Field Investigations
    • Firearms
    • Impressions
    • Latent Prints
    • Toxicology
    • Trace Evidence
  • Work directly with a laboratory mentor for training and task coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.
  • Pursuing a degree in a natural science field (e.g., biology, microbiology, forensic science, biochemistry).
  • At least in the second year of science studies.
  • Must remain enrolled through summer 2026.
  • Must provide official transcripts and references upon request.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with scientific techniques/equipment.
