Job Purpose
The Ice Cream Quality Assurance Technician supports the implementation of specifications, standards, and the Quality Management System (QMS) within the production site. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards. The position contributes to consumer safety, product quality, and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the implementation and compliance of quality testing programs throughout the production cycle.
- Assists in controlling non-conforming materials and products through established procedures.
- Helps ensure the on-site Quality laboratories operate according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company standards.
- Verifies calibration and maintenance programs for inspection, measuring, and testing equipment.
- Monitors and verifies product fill parameters to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintains systems that record and preserve key quality data and information.
- Participates in Quality and Food Safety process improvement teams within the factory.
- Supports the use of digital systems and improvement tools to minimize quality losses.
- Assists in resolving consumer and customer quality issues through structured improvement initiatives.
- Analyzes supplier performance data to improve the quality of inbound materials.
- Supports process capability studies to maintain alignment between processing capabilities and specification limits.
- Contributes to quality-related projects using current tools and practices.
- Helps prepare for and maintain internal and external audits, GMP inspections, and certifications.
- Verifies and documents compliance with regulatory requirements related to product quality and consumer safety.
Quality Assurance Technician Role Competencies

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Food Safety Modernization Act principles (HACCP Level 1 or 2 considered an asset).
- Understanding and enforcement of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in food production.
- Strong analytical and laboratory skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities.
- Experience with SAP, SAP Quality Management, and Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Power BI.
- Ability to work shift schedules and occasional weekend overtime.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflicts and promote an inclusive workplace.

- Salary Range: $57,000 – $85,600 annually.
