Educational Requirements for Microbiologist Role:
- B.S. in Microbiology required.
- Minimum 2 years of microbiological testing experience in cosmetic, nutritional, or pharmaceutical industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Study the growth, characteristics, and effects of bacteria and microorganisms to understand their relation to human, plant, and animal health.
- Perform sterility testing, API strips, and troubleshoot cross-contamination issues.
- Follow and adapt procedures from CTFA, AOAC, and other industry guidelines.
- Conduct Total Plate Counts, Enrichments, Preservative Effectiveness Testing, raw material, bulk, and water testing.
- Assist in overseeing Microbiology Technician work and perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required for Microbiologist Role:
- Knowledge of CTFA/PCPC, AOAC, and other industry standard methods.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and nutritional microbiology.
- Familiarity with European, US, and Japanese Pharmacopeias.
- Experience performing microbial testing on raw materials, water samples, bulk, and finished products (TPC, Yeast & Mold, Enrichments, PET).
- Computer literacy (Microsoft programs, spreadsheets, search engines).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to procedural changes for continuous improvement.
