- Salary Range: $59,462 – $74,298 annually
- Shift: Typically 8–12 hours per day (additional hours/weekends may be required)

Educational Requirements for this Job:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or related scientific discipline (highly preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a related role (preferred)
- Experience in a fast-paced food or manufacturing environment preferred
- Knowledge of microbiology principles and laboratory practices
- HACCP / FSMA / GFSI / CFIA knowledge preferred
- Related certifications are a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and manage microbiological analysis on finished products, raw materials, and customer complaints in this Quality Assurance Job at Ventura Foods in Canada
- Lead root cause investigations for out-of-spec results
- Support sanitation programs, including pre-operational inspections and ATP testing
- Monitor sanitation crew compliance with established procedures
- Support commissioning of new equipment and construction activities
- Participate in HQ microbiology meetings and implement new methodologies
- As a Microbiologist, you should manage Pathogen Environmental Monitoring (PEM) activities
- Conduct traceability exercises
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal audit standards
- Maintain microbiology lab, including vendor management, calibration, and supply ordering
- Support Food Safety Plans and corrective action processes
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of microbiological testing and environmental monitoring
- Understanding of food safety systems (HACCP, FSMA, GFSI, CFIA)
- Basic math and statistical knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Knowledge of safe laboratory practices
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
