Role Overview
As a Manufacturing Microbiology Intern, you will support the development and implementation of the site’s microbiological control program in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role provides hands-on experience in microbiological contamination control systems within manufacturing environments and laboratories, helping maintain the high-quality standards consumers expect from P&G products.
Key Responsibilities
Microbiological Control & Risk Management
- Analyze manufacturing microbiological risk assessments across multiple technologies and systems
- Conduct daily microbiological health assessments, analysis, and management
- Build analytical and data reporting tools to support microbiological control programs
Regulatory & Compliance
- Assess clean design features and compliance with:
- Industry quality standards
- cGMP requirements
- P&G Quality Systems and SOPs
- Coach and support compliance efforts based on site risk profiles
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support initiatives such as validations, new formulation start-ups, and equipment changes
- Participate in continuous improvement projects with cross-functional teams
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk, eliminate loss, and enhance consumer satisfaction
Qualifications for Microbiology Internship
Required
- Currently pursuing a four-year degree in:
- Biology
- Microbiology
- Biotechnology
- Food or Dairy Engineering
- Related field with quality or manufacturing focus
- Coursework or experience in:
- Microbiology laboratories
- Sanitary food manufacturing
- Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- Microbiological control and prevention strategies (HACCP, HARPC preferred)
- Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Ability to wear required PPE (eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes)
- Fluent in written and spoken English, including technical documentation
Preferred
- Experience with continuous improvement or self-improvement programs
- Prior experience in industrial manufacturing of consumer products
- Understanding of quality integration across manufacturing, supply chain, and operations
