Educational Requirements:
- Minimum B.S. degree in Life Sciences or equivalent
- Experience working in a regulated analytical laboratory
- Strong knowledge of GxP quality systems and sterile manufacturing
Key Responsibilities of the Microbiology Supervisor:
- Lead daily microbiology laboratory operations and supervise lab team
- Oversee environmental monitoring of Grades A/B/C/D and aseptic processes (Annex 1)
- Conduct laboratory testing including TOC, conductivity, pH, bioburden, growth promotion tests and bacterial identification
- Perform troubleshooting, manage deviations, investigations and corrective actions
- Handle change controls and ensure full GMP compliance
- Review and approve data results, procedures and test methods
- Perform trending of environmental monitoring (EM) data and write EM reports
- Author annual water trending reports
- Maintain accurate record-keeping systems
- Train applicable personnel and support microbiology instructor-led classes
- Design and manage contact/settle/active air sampling, APS and gowning qualification programs
Skills Required for the Microbiology Supervisor Role:
- Knowledge of European Pharmacopeia, USP chapters and environmental monitoring techniques
- Strong sterile manufacturing and microbiology testing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to supervise, mentor and develop team members
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
