Educational Requirements for the Lab Analyst Role:
- Minimum Diploma in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Food Technology, or a related field
- 1–2 years of relevant professional experience in a microbiology or food testing laboratory is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- In the Lab Analyst Role, you have to perform ingredient, in-process, flushing, and finished product microbiological testing
- Execute environmental microbiological monitoring programs, including support for unplanned events, incidents, and new projects
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis (CoA) for customers
- Prepare standards and controls for microbiological testing
- Record, evaluate, calculate, and enter test results into LabWare LIMS in the Lab Analyst Role.
- Prepare data tables and graphs, and verify result validity based on test requirements and lead times
- Ensure testing activities comply with ISO 17025 standards
- Communicate microbiological data to the Microbiologist Lab Executive in a timely manner
- As a Microbiology Lab Analyst, you should perform validation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of microbiology lab equipment (autoclave, incubator, refrigerator, BSC, etc.)
- Monitor inventory of consumables such as media, kits, and sampling tools
- Prepare laboratory reports related to microbiological testing, sterilization, and environmental monitoring
- Maintain good housekeeping, GLP, and laboratory safety practices in the Microbiology Jobs at Hershey.
Skills Required for the Lab Analyst Role:
- Strong understanding of microbiological testing techniques
- Knowledge of food safety, quality systems, and ISO 17025 requirements
- Experience with LabWare LIMS or similar laboratory information systems
