Role Overview
The Supervisor, QC Microbiology is responsible for day-to-day laboratory supervision, audit readiness, and operational planning within a GMP-regulated environment. This role leads laboratory staff, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and supports startup and operational readiness activities at FUJIFILM’s large-scale biomanufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and schedule QC Microbiology laboratory staff
- Ensure audit readiness and act as SME during audits and inspections
- Oversee microbiological testing, sample flow, and data integrity
- Lead investigations, deviations, excursions, and CAPAs
- Support resource planning, budgeting, and laboratory operations setup
- Provide technical guidance on compendial microbial methods and GMP requirements
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members; support performance management
- Partner cross-functionally to support operational readiness and product introduction
- Maintain compliance with cGMPs, regulatory expectations, and quality systems
- Support recruitment, training, and retention initiatives
Minimum Qualifications For Microbiology Jobs
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Biology or Microbiology) + 4 years of experience OR
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences + 2 years of experience
- 2–3 years of people management experience
- Experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment
- Strong knowledge of QC Microbiology, compendial methods, and data integrity
- Experience with LIMS and quality systems (e.g., TrackWise, MasterControl, Kneat)
- Experience managing complex projects and laboratory operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading laboratory teams in biomanufacturing environments
- Advanced understanding of large-scale biomanufacturing processes
- Experience supporting startup facilities or building quality systems
- Familiarity with technology transfer and product commercialization
Work Environment for Microbiology Jobs
