Production Supervisor Position Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading production operations and managing a team of 30–50 employees, ensuring safety, quality, and performance targets are consistently achieved.
- Reports to: Production Manager
- Direct Reports: 30–50 employees
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide direction and set priorities for Production Leads and floor personnel
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment
- Lead daily production meetings or support Production Leads in doing so
- Plan work schedules, assignments, and staffing coverage
- Support employee development, training, and performance improvement
- Address employee relations issues and partner with HR as needed
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
- Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, GMPs, and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with production policies and operational procedures
Production & Performance Management
- Meet departmental safety, quality, and cost targets
- Monitor CIP processes, shutdown timelines, and master sanitation schedules
- Analyze daily production data and provide written performance feedback
- Maintain inventory management standards
- Partner with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and uptime
- Apply 6S and root cause analysis methodologies to prevent recurrence of issues

- Safety (recordable incidents)
- Right First Time (RFT)
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Yield

Production Supervisor Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, or related field preferred
- Equivalent experience may be considered
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least 1 year of food manufacturing experience preferred
- At least 1 year of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodology experience
