Quality Assurance Job Summary
This role supports the end-to-end product development process, from final formulation to finished product. The Quality Assurance Regulatory Specifications Specialist plays a key role in developing, reviewing, and validating packaging copy to ensure compliance with Metro standards and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Packaging Compliance
- Develop, create, and critically review packaging copy for corporate brand products
- Ensure all product information complies with Metro standards and applicable regulations
- Validate vendor-provided information against internal and regulatory requirements
Vendor & Process Management
- Track the progress of packaging copies through development stages
- Follow up with vendors when timelines are missed or regulatory/policy deviations are identified
- Liaise between Metro and vendors to ensure accuracy and timely receipt of information
Documentation & Certification
- Create new and revised product packaging specifications for design, packaging, and regulatory teams
- Obtain and maintain kosher, halal, and organic certificates from vendors
- Maintain and update certification databases
Cross-Functional Support
- Support the Quality Assurance Coordinator during vacation periods
- Manage special regulatory projects as assigned by the Regulatory Manager, Regulatory Supervisor, or Senior Director, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs
Education For Quality Assurance Job
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Food Science, or a related discipline
Experience
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in a regulatory or quality assurance role
Skills & Knowledge
- Intermediate computer skills, with strong proficiency in Excel and Word
- Knowledge of SAP is an asset
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and legislative policies and procedures
- Bilingual English/French is an asset
