Role Overview
The Associate Scientist will support research and development of CRISPR/Cas9-edited and mRNA-CAR T cell therapies for oncology and autoimmune diseases. This role involves conducting in-vitro and in-vivo studies, optimizing T-cell engineering workflows, and collaborating across functional teams to advance Intellia’s cell therapy programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute lab activities supporting the development of genome-edited and mRNA-CAR T cell therapies.
- Perform assays to assess and optimize the delivery of genetic or mRNA cargo to immune cells.
- Conduct in vitro immunoassays (e.g., cytotoxicity, cytokine release) to evaluate potency and specificity of engineered T cells.
- Utilize murine models to assess therapeutic efficacy and support in vivo study execution.
- Work cross-functionally within a matrixed organization to advance understanding of CAR T, mRNA, and LNP biology.
Required Education & Experience for Scientist Jobs
- Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Medical Biotechnology, or a related field + 2 years industry lab experience,
OR - Bachelor’s degree in a related field + 4 years industry lab experience.
Required Technical Skills
- Human T-cell or PBMC culture and manipulation.
- Multi-color flow cytometry (up to 6 markers).
- In-vitro T-cell assays, including cytokine quantification (ELISA/MSD) and cytotoxicity assays with tumor cell lines.
- Animal handling, including i.v., i.p., and s.c. injections, and murine model development.
- Processing animal tissues (e.g., spleen) into single-cell suspensions for downstream analyses.
