Educational Requirements for the Summer Internship:
- Must be a currently enrolled PhD student
- Majors: Genetics, Bioinformatics, or Related computational or biological fields
Key Responsibilities:
- At Genentech Careers, you have to engage with CBM, AIBT, and Human Genetics teams to shape a novel research program
- Contribute to lab meetings, seminars, and cross-department scientific discussions
- Work on sequence-to-function (S2F) DNA models for fine-mapping genetic data
- Develop methods to project genetic risk scores into cell-type-specific gene programs
- Support Immunology collaborations focusing on COPD and IBD
- Build and refine ML-based tools that integrate gene expression and genetic variation
- Deliver a robust computational codebase impacting the drug development pipeline
- Participate in journal clubs, project meetings, and career development programs
Skills Required for the Summer Internship:
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of human genetics concepts (GWAS, population structure, fine-mapping)
- Proficiency in Python or R
- Experience in single-cell computational analysis and/or DNA/RNA sequence-to-function models
