Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or an equivalent discipline
- Prior experience in the food industry is preferred
Key Responsibilities of the Food Scientist:
- Execute agreed R&D activities to support innovation, product superiority, and margin enhancement programs
- Work as part of cross-functional project teams to deliver projects on time and in full
- Independently design products based on simple product briefs
- Develop and execute test protocols including prototype development, scale-up, shelf-life testing, and analytical testing
- Lead specification and label creation in SAP PLM from request to approval
- Represent R&D in cross-functional meetings and provide technical input
- Assess feasibility of new ideas and troubleshoot formulation challenges
- Support technical investigations using root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving tools
- Build and maintain effective relationships with R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing, suppliers, and stakeholders
Skills Required for the Food Scientist Role:
- Strong knowledge of food ingredients, formulation, and product design principles
- Ability to manage multiple projects with moderate complexity independently
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Experience with specification creation, approval, and costing
- Data analysis and interpretation skills
- Understanding of experimental design and root-cause analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations
- Confidence in presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences
