Job Description Summary
GE Medical Systems Limited is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Trainee Engineer to join its team. This entry-level role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the medical device industry by supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced medical equipment. The position is fully onsite in London and is part of a two-year trainee program, with the potential for a permanent role upon successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers with the installation, configuration, and calibration of a wide range of medical devices.
- Participate in preventative maintenance programs by performing routine inspections and servicing to ensure equipment performance, reliability, and patient safety.
- Support troubleshooting and repair of complex biomedical systems, while learning diagnostic techniques and the use of specialized tools.
- Accurately document all service activities, including installations, maintenance, and repairs, in accordance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
- Comply strictly with all quality, safety, and healthcare regulations related to medical devices and patient care.
- Actively engage in ongoing learning through internal training, mentorship, and self-study to expand technical expertise.
- Contribute to the management of spare parts and tools inventory, ensuring availability and proper record-keeping.
Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A strong foundational understanding of electronics, mechanics, and computer systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and complex equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- A commitment to patient safety, quality standards, and ethical practices.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
- Prior internship or project experience in a biomedical or technical environment is considered an advantage.
