The Position
The Clinical Research Scientist supports late-stage clinical development (Phase 1b–3) within the Roche/Genentech Clinical Development organization. This role contributes to the execution of Clinical Development Plans (CDPs) by providing clinical science support across study design, documentation, data review, and reporting, under guidance from senior Clinical Scientists and Medical Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development and preparation of clinical science content for Clinical Development Plans (CDPs)
- Contribute to protocol and ICF development, amendments, and CRF construction under guidance
- Support internal and external clinical communications, including investigator meetings, site interactions, and study materials
- Present at internal forums (e.g., Study Leadership Team meetings) and contribute to abstracts, posters, and scientific meeting content
- Collaborate with Clinical Scientists, Medical Directors, and cross-functional teams on medical data review, data interpretation, and study reporting
- Contribute to Clinical Trial Applications (CTA), Ethics Committee submissions, and Health Authority interactions
- Support exploratory safety analyses and cross-franchise initiatives
- Work cross-functionally with early development teams (gRED/pRED), discovery sciences, and developmental sciences
- Ensure compliance with global regulations, Roche SOPs, GCP, ICH, FDA, EMA, and other applicable guidelines
Required Qualifications for Clinical Research Jobs
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related life science field
- 1–2 years of industry experience in clinical development or drug R&D (early and/or late stage)
- Understanding of multidisciplinary drug development functions, including ICF, CST, and safety data review activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PhD, or equivalent)
- Experience in independently managing study conduct responsibilities
- Experience across multiple therapeutic areas
- Demonstrated protocol review and assessment experience
- Strong ability to work effectively within cross-functional study teams
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
Compensation & Benefits of Clinical Research Jobs
- Salary Range (SF Bay Area): $124,800 – $205,000 annually
- Discretionary annual bonus eligibility
