Bioinformatician
Bioinformatics
Hinxton, UK
We are looking for a bioinformatician to join the Open Targets data team. We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to expand our informatics platforms through the integration and analysis of a wide array of biological data to enhance drug discovery.
In this role you will actively develop pipelines that analyze, interpret and integrate our growing experimental research data with public domain data. This will require benchmarking the approaches against appropriate metrics and the development of processes to migrate these pipelines into the Open Targets software ecosystem. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and interact closely with experimentalists, data analysts, academic and industry scientists, and the Open Targets core development team. We are looking for someone with experience in data integration and benchmarking, developing production-ready pipelines, and enthusiasm to work with interesting biological datasets.
Open Targets (OT) is a public-private partnership aiming to systematically identify and prioritize drug targets by integrating complex biological data in a pre-competitive environment. As an open-source project, the Open Targets platform (https://platform.opentargets.org/) and Genetics Portal (http://genetics.opentargets.org) organize and present large amounts of biomedical data to publicly facilitate the drug discovery decision-making process.
Your role
Working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team with members that come from various professional backgrounds and countries across the world, you will be responsible for:
- The collection and integration of data across OT projects and publicly available resources for target-disease associations and target attribute prioritization into the OT informatics ecosystem/resources
- Designing, developing, and improving robust and testable data integration pipelines to facilitate target selection and development of appropriate benchmarks.
- Collaborating with scientists from Open Targets experimental projects to optimize approaches for analyzing and representing experimental data to aid target identification and prioritization.
