Educational Requirements for the Regulatory Specialist ANZ Role:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science or a related technical discipline

Key Responsibilities of the Regulatory Specialist ANZ:

  • Act as an in-house expert on food legislation and regulatory guidelines for Australia and New Zealand
  • Review product ingredients, formulations, and labels to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support new product development, reformulation projects, and marketing claims
  • Monitor and interpret legislative changes impacting food composition and labelling
  • Develop and maintain procedures for product formula and label approval
  • Promote and sponsor regulatory compliance training initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities when required
  • Communicate industry best practices and provide regulatory recommendations
  • Ensure business continuity through proactive regulatory compliance activities

Skills Required for the Regulatory Specialist Role:

  • 1–3 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the food manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of food composition, labelling, and marketing claim substantiation
  • Understanding of food safety standards, including microbiological and contaminant controls
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence in resolving complex regulatory issues
  • Ability to set standards and ensure accountability
  • Adaptability to fast-paced, collaborative environments
