Educational Requirements:
- BA or BS preferred in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology
- Laboratory experience required
- 1–2 years of experience in the food industry preferred
Key Responsibilities of Laboratory Technician Role:
- Maintain documentation and records of all testing per Pasteurized Milk Ordinance requirements
- Calibrate lab equipment, conduct validation testing, and maintain calibration records
- Provide timely and accurate testing of products
- Follow proper laboratory procedures set by Corporate Quality and Rainier Laboratory Departments
- Perform environmental monitoring and maintain swabbing programs
- Ensure analytical, microbiological, and organoleptic properties meet product and regulatory specifications
- Prepare and receive raw and finished product samples for testing while maintaining sterility
- Assist in audits, methodology validation, regulatory compliance, troubleshooting, and special projects
- Climb tank ladders up to 40ft and lift/push/pull 50lbs as needed
Skills Required for Laboratory Technician Role:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of microbiology, plating methods, and laboratory testing procedures
